Sydney-based startup Eyes of AI and CSIRO’s Data61 have secured multiple awards at the Australian Information Industry Assocation’s (AIIA) prestigious national iAwards ceremony for the AI-driven dental and medical imaging technology they developed in collaboration.
EAI and CSIRO’s Data61 were the only organisations to take home several awards on the night.
The iAwards were announced at the AIIA’s iAwards Gala Dinner last Thursday, 30 August, at SkyCity Adelaide, which was attended by over 400 founders and innovators from across Australia.
The Hon Blair Boyer, South Australian Minister for Education, Training and Skills was in attendance while the Hon Ed Husic MP, Minister for Industry and Science delivered a keynote speech.
A total of 78 finalists from 280 applications competed across seven categories. EAI and CSIRO Data61 secured the Merit awards for both the Business and Industry Solution and Tech Platform categories for their segmentation and detection of pathologies technology.
This technology is the first of its kind to offer a unified solution for conducting AI-based analysis on all five commonly used types of dental radiographs. Currently, no other commercial product offers a comparable solution.

EAI and CSIRO’s Data61 won the NSW iAward for best Business and Industry Solution and the Merit award for the best Tech Platform at the NSW iAwards ceremony last month.
The iAwards is Australia’s longest-running and most broadly scoped innovation recognition program and has promoted excellence in the Australian digital ecosystem from the likes of Google Maps, Atlassian, Wotif and WiseTech Global.
